While preparing a photographic show about Eastern Europe I came across a photo I took in 1987 during my first trip to Budapest, a city that had been a battle ground between the Germans and the Russians during the Second World War. The bullet holes in he picture had been there for 42 years! Hopefully the wall has been repaired by now. As I look back at my first book about Hungary, I see a mistake that wasn’t noticed before the book was printed. The green plants seen here were at the top of the photo. It had been printed upside down!
